ABOUT REDEGG

"Redegg Designs is a home for my work as an artist, and a place for people to connect. The name Redegg refers to acknowledging what exists now while eagerly looking forward to whatever exciting, unnerving possibilities are in the making. It's all about the dream a little girl once had of painting the walls of the world just to change what people see in it." - Nofo

Matamatanonofo Porter, born 1991 and more commonly known as Nofo Porter, is a self-taught visual artist. She uses a home brew of her Samoan culture, her love for fantasy fiction, and passion for the city of Tacoma to create her own personal style. At 19 years old Porter moved to Tacoma and found a world of creative energy there that would support, inspire, and ultimately convince her to live out her ambitions as an artist. Over the years Porter has taken great strides to engage with other Tacoma artists in various community spaces, and is committed to furthering this work of uplifting marginalized groups through creativity and innovation.

Artist Statement

Matamatanonofo Porter is a Tacoma based visual artist and muralist specializing in the creation of community artwork. Through her work Porter aims to create experiences that are beautiful, impactful, and provocative. She uses simple means, like acrylic on cardboard, on cement, or on clipboards to summon forth new planes of enjoyment in hopes of sharing with the world an exploration of free expression.

Her presence in public art takes the form of community murals, spoken word, socially engaged exhibitions, and stand up comedy giving voice to under represented communities of color as well as the LGBTQ community. Public service by artistic means has been pivotal in her evolution as an artist.
